While doing the reading, I was surprised at how long it took for humans to make progress on timekeeping devices. It is also impressive that the idea of using atomic transitions to measure time first appears in 1879 which I thought would be a much more recent stuff.

It’s interesting to notice how humans using different technologies for trying their best to measure the time. For example, pendulum clocks are used the classical physics, while people started to use electric clocks after electricity was found.

How the ancient people solved the problem was also attractive for me. While the shadow clocks and water clocks are interesting, I knew that Chinese had used incense to measure the time for a long time and incense even become a measuring unit for time.
